Part time position/on-call: to oversee and maintain the three commercial licensed kitchens at Eliot House  (kosher, halal, and general use) and the lounge area in which food is served; to train student and staff, etc. in the proper handling, serving, and storing of food as well as in standards for clean-up and disposal of food; to ensure sufficient supply of cleaning and food serving supplies as well as purchase food for programs; and to prepare or arrange for catered meals for Interfaith Luncheons, SHRI (Hindu) dinner, Jumma lunch (Fridays), Passover, Family and Friends Weekend Sunday brunch and any occasional other programs as needed.  Additionally, this position is responsible for recordkeeping and submission of all receipts for expenses related to the kitchen management. Commitment throughout the academic year is expected.  

Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certification required (must be recertified every 3 years to be in college compliance).
  • Experience as a cook/chef with ability to cook a variety of cultural cuisines.
  • General knowledge of food service protocols.
  • Experience with recordkeeping and budgeting for all purchases 
  • Comfortable in working with a highly diverse and multicultural community.
