The Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Mount Holyoke College, which has offered a major in statistics for over 20 years, invites applications for a visiting lecturer in statistics. The position is for one year, to begin in Fall, 2018 and may be renewable.
Qualifications include a doctorate (completed or anticipated), a commitment to scholarship and teaching statistics in a liberal arts environment, and evidence of classroom effectiveness. The successful candidate will have experience teaching at the undergraduate level and experience mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion.
The Five Colleges cooperate actively in statistics, and statisticians meet together regularly. There are several statisticians at each of Amherst, Smith, and Mount Holyoke, and weekly colloquia in both statistics and biostatistics at the University. The teaching load will be 5 courses per year.
