Reporting to the Associate Director for Leadership Annual Giving, The Mount Holyoke Fund Officer for Leadership Annual Giving manages an assigned pool of prospective donors and volunteers through the fund-raising continuum from discovery, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, focusing on prospects capable of making annual gifts of $1,837 or more to The Mount Holyoke Fund.  This position will visit with 100+ alumnae each fiscal year to solicit support and promote membership in the Cornerstone Society which recognizes all donor who make a gift of $1,837 or more to the College each year.  Frequent travel will be required.

The Mount Holyoke Fund Officer for Leadership Annual Giving also directs and oversees The Mount Holyoke Fund strategy and volunteer management for approximately 8-10 classes in our post-50th Reunion cohort with the goal of maintaining high levels of support and engagement after the 50th Reunion.  This position also functions as the staff liaison to the Beyond the 50th Committee, a sub-committee of the larger Mount Holyoke Fund Committee, and maintains regular communication, facilitates conference calls, and assists with the work of the Beyond the 50th Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

  • Directly qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects with the capacity to make annual gifts of $1,837-$50,000.
  • Create and implement a successful strategy for leadership annual gift solicitations that 1) retains current and re-engages lost donors, 2) grows giving levels of current donors, and 3) ultimately increases unrestricted giving.
  • Conduct a minimum of 100 personal visits per year with leadership annual giving prospects for 1:1 solicitations. Local and regional travel are regular; and evening and weekend hours are occasional.
  • Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with donors and potential donors; maintain relationships in person and long distance.
  • As needed, work with Advancement team (Mount Holyoke Fund, Leadership Giving, and Planned Giving) in creating and implementing strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Class and Volunteer Management

  • Develop and implement strategies for classes to reach dollar and participation goals.
  • Work with assigned volunteers to achieve the specified goals for the class and for The Mount Holyoke Fund.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Leadership Annual Giving to create transition plan for classes immediately post-50th.
  • Work to recruit, direct, motivate, and support a large group of active volunteers in assigned classes.
  • Develop all class specific communications for assigned classes.

 Beyond the 50th Committee Liaison

  • Manage and support Beyond the 50th Committee including planning and leading annual on campus committee meeting, periodic conference calls, and electronic updates.

Other

  • Be an active and collaborative team member.
  • Contribute to overall Mount Holyoke Fund discussions affecting annual giving priorities and strategies.
  • Participate in special projects or activities as assigned including, but not limited to, attendance at college functions and volunteer and/or donor events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in fundraising.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance multiple projects and tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in cultivation and solicitation of donor prospects a plus.
  • Experience with volunteer management a plus.
  • Database experience, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel); and ability to analyze data and learn new software.
  • Willingness to travel domestically with some evenings and weekends required throughout the year. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Desire to be part of a strong team.
