The Spanish, Latina/o and Latin American Studies Department at Mount Holyoke College is seeking an Academic Department Coordinator to work full time (37.5 hours/week), academic year (September-May) schedule. Responsibilities include: preparing departmental courses, schedules, reports and correspondence; inputting material for the on-line catalogue and student information system; coordinating with the Chair office hours and other departmental meetings; maintaining the department’s web page and building boards; monitoring budget and department funds; maintaining records (electronic, paper and in Google); communicating with faculty, students, vendors and the campus community; arranging department events and receptions; supervising students and working with the MHC JOBX system; effectively working and communicating with MHC employees and creating a welcoming, service-oriented point of contact for the department. This individual will also provide administrative support for Romance Languages and Cultures Program.
Qualified candidates should have excellent interpersonal as well as good oral and written communication skills and exceptional organizational skills. The ability to work independently as well as creatively and manage projects that involve multiple tasks and deadlines are key to this position. Expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, Google applications, and web design application is essential. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus. Start date is the last week of August 20, 2018.
