The Mount Holyoke College Counseling Service seeks a Massachusetts licensed physician with board certification (or eligibility) in psychiatry or a board certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

General Summary of Position: The Counseling Service psychiatrist/psychiatric nurse practitioner is responsible for psychiatric assessment/evaluation and medication management for MHC students. In addition, they provide clinical consultation to the Counseling Service staff and the MHC community, play an active role in team meetings and departmental goal setting, assist with training of staff, conduct campus-wide psychoeducation and outreach, and perform other duties as assigned by the Counseling Service Director. The position is a part-time (20-30 hours per week), academic year position that runs from September 1st through May 31st.  There may be on-call duties during the academic year and from June 1st through August 31st.

Please Note:  This position is a one-year position with the possiblity of becoming permanent.

Duties and Responsibilities:

● Psychiatric assessment/evaluation of students

● Psychotropic medication prescription and monitoring

● Psychiatric hospitalization - both voluntary and involuntary

● Staff training

● Consultation to the Counseling Service staff and the MHC community

● Consultation with off campus providers, first responders and hospital personnel

● Legally sound documentation of all treatment and consultation

● Psychoeducation/Outreach to the MHC community

● Provision of On-call services for the MHC community

● Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Counseling Service

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Experience: Medical Doctor (M.D.) or advanced-practice registered nurse who has completed a master level or doctoral program in nursing, licensure in Massachusetts or if out of state, license eligibility with license required by start date, experience working with a college age population, Board certification or eligibility, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification and Massachusetts controlled substance registration.

Skills: Outstanding clinical assessment skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team, understanding of and adherence to state law and ethical guidelines, commitment to cultural humility and to the needs of Mount Holyoke College’s diverse community.

Supervision: General supervision provided by Counseling Service Director. Consultation/supervision provided by current college psychiatrist.
