The Office of Admission is hiring a new colleague who will work as part of a four-person team of Admission Coordinators in Mount Holyoke’s fast-paced admission office. Primary duties include working closely with a member of the admission counselor staff to manage the activities of a global volunteer alumnae group which includes scheduling admission interviews between prospective students and volunteers, receiving and responding to college fair invitations, and scheduling staff and volunteer attendance at college fairs.
Each of the Admission Coordinators works closely with admission counselors by arranging their visits to high schools and by managing their travel schedules. In addition, the Admission Coordinators do significant amounts of data entry related to prospective student and applicant records. They also serve as backup receptionists and carry out other duties as assigned.
This position involves significant contact by telephone, email and in person with prospective students and their parents; high school guidance counselors; alumnae; current MHC students, faculty and staff; and external vendors.
The successful candidate will be highly organized, efficient, reliable, resourceful and adaptable in an environment with multiple priorities and systems. The ability to work as part of a team and to contribute to the positive dynamics of the office environment is essential.
She or he will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, expert proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, mail merges and be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Further, she or he must be able to utilize documentation in conjunction with training to master processes; exercise good judgment; and utilize problem-solving skills. A sense of humor, cooperative spirit and flexibility are required characteristics of the successful candidate. Qualified candidates will be able to grasp a big-picture understanding of the demands and challenges of the Admission Office and be able to adjust to accommodate the varied circumstances of MHC’s diverse applicant pool appropriately.
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or a combination of education and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in administrative work, is preferred. Previous experience in a college admission office and with Slate software will be an advantage.
The work week is from 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A limited amount evening and weekend work is expected.
