Reporting to the Associate Director of Equity and Compliance and Title IX/504 Coordinator, the Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Inclusion will provide advanced, complex, and varied leadership in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and events to promote diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategic objectives as it relates to the College’s strategic plan. This position supports and works in conjunction with the DEI team and an ongoing commitment to foster a community that is bias-free, equitable, diverse and inclusive.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

The Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming and LGBTQ Initiatives (Creates annual signature campus-wide programs to increase community building and cohesion; develops a comprehensive LGBTQ awareness program, supports the work of the DEI team by cultivating response based programming for significant campus climate issues; collaborates with Student Life by providing trainings and additive programming; collaborates with vital centers and other key departments on programs; also serves as a valuable team leader in Bias Education Response and Training supporting the work of responding to incidents on campus.

The Assistant Director of Campus Diversity Programming and LGBTQ Initiatives (DEI) will:

  • Create annual signature campus-wide programs to reduce incidents of bias and increase awareness and cohesion within the campus community.
  • Supports the work of the DEI team by cultivating response based programming for significant climate issues as needed.
  • Collaborates with key divisions, centers and departments on programs and initiatives related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Develops a comprehensive LGBTQ awareness program for the training of faculty, staff and students.
  • Serves as a key member of the Bias Education Response Team by providing specific trainings to support the reduction of bias within the campus community.
  • Support departmental DEI plans, monitor development and implementation of plans; provide trainings, resources and support in all departmental DEI matters.
  • Make recommendations for department policies, practices, and programs that support DEI initiatives.
  • Review, analyze and interpret institutional data to inform the impact of the DEI initiatives at the college.
  • Serve on key campus committees and ad hoc sub-committees.

Campus wide Programming

  • Create and implement programs and initiatives that are educational, intentional and purposeful in reducing and/or eliminating bias for specific cultural and underrepresented populations on campus.
  • Coordinate logistics and key strategies for signature campus wide programs developed by the DEI office including Building On Our Momentum (BOOM), Trans Week of Remembrance, Resilience and Resistance, and the Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King Week of Human Rights and Social Justice.
  • Coordinate dialogue programs focused on engaging across difference with a specific emphasis on building community between faculty, staff and students.
  • Serve as a visible presence for support by attending events sponsored by cultural organizations and with departments focused on building an inclusive campus community.
  • Coordinate special programs and projects and serve on key committees and working groups related to DEI.

DEI trainings and education for staff focused on LGBTQ inclusion:

  • Develops and implements specific LGBTQ focused training to provide education and support to the campus community.
  • Serves as a key member of the Trans Affirming Practices Working Group to develop policies focused on inclusion for trans and non-binary individuals within the campus community.
  • Conducts trainings focused on anti-bias education, Title IX, and other key diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
  • Collaborate with Key Divisions and Departments including Academic Affairs and Student Life
  • Supports the work of other key campus constituents who coordinate DEI programming within various departments including the Office of Accessibility Services, the Weissman Center for Leadership, the McCullough Center for Global Initiatives, the Worley Center for the Environment, the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Division of Student Life.
  • Support the work of the Associate Director for Equity and Compliance and Title IX/504 Coordinator.
  • Works with the Bias Education Response Team (BERT) as a member.
  • Provides intake and investigation support for Title IX and 504 complaints.
  • Supports the development of gender based education including programs and trainings related to sexual misconduct (e.g. Sexual Assault Awareness Month).


  • A master's degree is preferred or a combination of a four-year Bachelor's degree plus relevant experience; 1-3 years of experience in working with diverse populations in specific roles related to education, training and programming;
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and support for, key precepts in diversity, equity and inclusion and an ability to support others in creating diverse, equitable and inclusive work environments.
  • Strong special event planning and execution skills.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the varied perspectives that faculty, staff and students bring to their work, including academic perspectives and experiences deriving from race, socio-economic status, ethnicity, ability, gender, religion, sexuality and other intersectional identities.
  • A strong respect for diverse viewpoints and populations.
  • Be able to travel both domestically and internationally as well as work outside of normal business hours as needed.
